In this economy, most girls aren't willing to shell out the $15 bucks for a good manicure. So, what do you do when you're short a few bucks and want that clean, manicured look? Use a buffing block I say! I use one produced by the company Trim, which I bought in my last haul. I bought it from Target for just a $1.97. There are four sides to the block: 1. Even Out, 2. Smooth Nail, 3. Buff Nail, 4. Shine Nail
Side 1 is used to shape your nails. Side 2 is used to smooth out the ridges in your nails. Side 3 is used to eliminate any fine ridges and stains. Side 4 is used to make your nails shine.

I use the block every 2 to 3 weeks, which is what's recommended by the manufacturers. I don't really take too much care of my nails since I do research in a lab and have to constantly take off and put on gloves and wash my hands.

If you make the images larger, you can see that the nail looks super smooth in the after picture. The shine level looks pretty similar, but the smoothness makes the shine look less dull. This also makes it much much much easier to apply nail polish since the polish just glides on. I hope this post helps you girls who want perfect looking nails without having to get a manicure every week. I'll do a swatch of the polish I applied after using the block soon!
