Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hello lovely readers!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!  I know, I know, I'm late by an hour, but I couldn't manage to find time during the day to post.  I hope everyone had an amazing day filled with family, friends, and of course FOOD!! I had an awesome day with my family.  My entire family (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc) went to an aunt's house for Thanksgiving dinner and let me just say, we thoroughly enjoyed expanding our waistlines!  I'm vegetarian, so I didn't eat the turkey, but there was so much other yummy food, too, so I definitely wasn't hungry at the end of the day. =)

And of course, now that Thanksgiving is over, it's time for my 2nd favorite holiday (Christmas, being my 1st), Black Friday!  Yes, it's a holiday!  We celebrate holidays, and Black Friday is definitely a reason to celebrate, soooooo for me, Black Friday equals Holiday =)  I won't be waking up in the middle of the night to go shopping, but I will hopefully get up early enough to catch some of the sales.  I don't really have anything in particular that I want or need to buy other than Christmas gifts for some people.  Are any of you going Black Friday shopping, and if so, what stores and deals are you looking out for!?

I know I've been slacking on posts, but I have good excuses!  I had an exam on Monday and ended up going to the Today Show's Bon Jovi concert at Rockefeller Plaza in NYC!  I had a fantastic time, but I lost a TON of sleep.  My cousin, sister, and I woke up at 3:00 AM (YES, in the middle of the night!) and ended up getting to Rockefeller Plaza at 5:30 AM.  It was dark and super cold, and when we got there, there were TONS and TONS and TONS of people there already!  We were pretty far from the stage, but were still able to see them initially.  But then the fans up front started putting up their signs and since the stage was low, it became harder to see them.  But it's okay!  I loved it anyway!  Hearing them live was just awesome!  It's an experience I'll never forget!  I'm posting a few pics from the concert, so enjoy!

NARS Deepthroat Swatch

Hey lovelies!!

So I'm finally home from a long day on campus.  I'm pooped!  I had a really early class this morning and a meeting later at night for the co-ed fraternity that I'm in.  I did some hauling today in my break between studying.  But!! This post isn't a haul post, I've been posting way too many haul posts and not enough swatches, so I figured I'd swatch the NARS blush in Deepthroat.  So here they are:

The color is absolutely gorgeous!  I was going to originally buy the cult-favorite, NARS Orgasm blush, but I didn't like it as much as I liked Deepthroat on my skin.  I think Deepthroat suits me better since I have dark skin.  This was my first NARS blush and I really really love it!  I haven't worn it for a long period of time, so I'm not sure how the stay power is yet.  I'm sure it's worth the $25 that it costs, though!  Btw, I bought mine online from sephora.com during their Friends & Family Sale, so I got 20% off =)

What other blushes (any brand!) can you absolutely not live without?  I want to know, so comment below!  I'll be posting today's haul soon, so stay tuned for that!

Haul Time!!

Hey lovelies!!

I hope you all are having a great Monday!!  I have another haul for you!

I took advantage of the Sephora Friends & Family sale and bought NARS Deepthroat Blush.  It's a beautiful peachy pink shade with some glitters in it.  Here's a quick pic of the shade:

I also went into the store and saw that there was a sweet deal going on with a couple of the Benefit Creaseless Shadow Liners.  They were selling the shades Recess and Honey Bunny together for just $10!  Now individually, these shadow liners cost about $19, so getting them for $5 each was a bargain!  The only shade choices were Recess and Honey Bunny, so you can't get any of the other colors on sale, but I think these shades just might be worth trying.  They both are neutrals and would be great as a base for eye shadows.  I haven't tried them yet, so I'm not sure if they truly are creaseless or if they're worth the money, but I'll be sure to post swatches and do a review soon!  A couple pics:

Isn't the packaging just adorable!

I also went into Target since I heard that they started selling E.L.F. products there.  I was super excited since I've been wanting to try E.L.F. stuff without having to buy stuff online.  They don't sell individual products, such as shadows, lip glosses, etc. in Target as E.L.F. does online, so I ended up only buying the Total Face Brush from the E.L.F. products.  They do sell gift packs, such as a trio of nail polishes (for $3), a palette with eye shadows (for $5), etc.  Here are a couple pics of the brush I bought:

I know the second one is a little blurry, but I just wanted to show you guys how wide it is.  The third pic shows how thick it is when you turn it sideways.  It's not as dense as I would like a face brush to be, but for a buck, it's not too bad!

I also got the Revlon Beyond Natural Mascara in Black/Noir from Target since it was on clearance for just a $1.74.  I know I know, you're probably wondering, she just bought four mascaras, why does she need another?  Well, I'm still on the hunt for my holy-grail mascara even though I love the Loreal Extra Collagen Volume Mascara, so I just bought it to try out haha
Here's what the packaging looks like:

Well I hope you enjoyed this haul!  I should be posting swatches of some NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils, L'Oreal Bare Naturale Eye Shadow, and L'Oreal HIP blush soon, so be on the lookout for those!

China Glaze: Metallic Muse Swatch

Hello lovelies!

I know I've been slacking, but once again, school has taken over all my time! I can't wait til my exams are over so I can blog more!  Last week I decided to do my nails since they looked like they were attacked by a wild animal lol I used Metallic Muse by China Glaze.  It's a part of their Khrome Collection.  I got it for a little over $3 since my local Sally Beauty Supply had the Khrome Collection and Glitters Collection on buy 1 get 1 free and I had a $3 off coupon.  It's a gorgeous metallic sea green color.  Here are a couple swatches:

I know the pictures aren't the best, but I'm working on getting better lighting!  So let me know if you have other China Glaze colors that you're a fan of!  I'm on a nail kick so I would love to try new colors!  I also have a haul or two that I'll be posting soon along with some more swatches, so be on the lookout for those soon!  I did my nails again today using another shade from the China Glaze Khrome Collection, so I should be posting a swatch of that as well!  I hope you all have a lovely Saturday!

How to get smooth nails for under 2 bucks!

Hello lovelies,

In this economy, most girls aren't willing to shell out the $15 bucks for a good manicure.  So, what do you do when you're short a few bucks and want that clean, manicured look?  Use a buffing block I say!  I use one produced by the company Trim, which I bought in my last haul.  I bought it from Target for just a $1.97.  There are four sides to the block:  1.  Even Out, 2.  Smooth Nail, 3.  Buff Nail, 4.  Shine Nail

Side 1 is used to shape your nails.  Side 2 is used to smooth out the ridges in your nails.  Side 3 is used to eliminate any fine ridges and stains.  Side 4 is used to make your nails shine.

Here are some pictures of what each side looks like:

I use the block every 2 to 3 weeks, which is what's recommended by the manufacturers.  I don't really take too much care of my nails since I do research in a lab and have to constantly take off and put on gloves and wash my hands.

Here are the before (left) and after (right) images:

If you make the images larger, you can see that the nail looks super smooth in the after picture.  The shine level looks pretty similar, but the smoothness makes the shine look less dull.  This also makes it much much much easier to apply nail polish since the polish just glides on.  I hope this post helps you girls who want perfect looking nails without having to get a manicure every week.  I'll do a swatch of the polish I applied after using the block soon!  Like I mentioned earlier, the block costs only $1.97, so definitely try it out!  It's amazing!  Hope all of you have a fantastic day!

L.A. COLORS Cafe Au Lait Palette Swatches

Hello lovelies!

I did some swatches of the Cafe Au Lait palette by L.A. COLORS.  I bought it from my local Dollar Tree for...you guessed it, a dollar! =) There are six shadows and they're all pretty pigmented.  Of course, they're no MAC, but they are pretty amazing for just a buck!  Here are the pictures (forgive my hairy arms =P)
This is the packaging it came in:

This is what the palette looks like with flash:

This is what the back looks like:

These are a couple swatches:

The shadows aren't as finely milled as I like them, but they're managable.  The left three shadows are the top row from L to R and the right the shadows are the bottom row from L to R. My favorites are the bottom row.  The top 3 shadows are great for highlighting, or even the lid.  I'll try to do a tutorial using these shadows soon!  I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know if you have any questions!!

XOXO,

Pink Primping Princess =)
